Philly Pocket Garden

This design/build project transformed 150 square feet of concrete into a garden for a curator and graphic designer in Philadelphia. The design includes an ipe fence and planters and a new brick patio. The horizontal lines of the fence and light filtering through grasses and leaves are visible from the adjacent kitchen as well as through the living room and upstairs office windows, negotiating the transition from inside to outside. Meals are taken in the garden in three seasons, and a fire pit makes the space usable in winter.
